Government launches public test environment for future e-ID system

This early-access platform invites users to test and help shape the upcoming e-ID system, with a focus on usability, security, and trusted digital identity development

On March 26, 2025, the Swiss Federal Office of Justice announced the launch of a free public test environment for the forthcoming electronic identity (e-ID) system. This initiative allows individuals and public authorities to develop and trial electronic credentials within a government-provided trust infrastructure. The e-ID Act, passed by Parliament on December 20, 2024, mandates the introduction of a state-recognised e-ID and the establishment of this essential trust infrastructure, accessible to cantonal and communal authorities as well as private individuals for issuing additional electronic identity credentials. The Act is expected to come into force no earlier than the third quarter of 2026, coinciding with the operational readiness of the trust infrastructure.

At DeepCloud, we welcome the introduction of the e-ID as an important step toward building a trustworthy digital ecosystem in Switzerland. Our DeepID solution is fully prepared to integrate the e-ID into the identity verification process, further streamlining onboarding for qualified electronic signatures (QES).

By incorporating the e-ID, users can confirm their identity quickly and securely—speeding up the entire registration process while meeting the highest standards for security and data protection. DeepID enables seamless integration of the e-ID into existing workflows, providing public authorities and businesses with an efficient, user-friendly solution.

This combination of e-ID and DeepID not only creates a smooth digital onboarding experience but also lays the foundation for a secure, digitally connected future. We look forward to advancing digital transformation together with our partners.
