DeepLegal: rethinking AI-powered legal research

Digital transformation has fundamentally changed numerous industries, yet legal research remained labour-intensive and fragmented for a long time. DeepLegal addresses this challenge by combining technological expertise with a profound understanding of legal workflows

The Idea Behind DeepLegal

Legal research accounts for a significant share of the working time of lawyers and legal professionals. Despite increasing digitalisation, research often remained time-consuming, fragmented and dependent on traditional keyword searches. At the same time, the volume of legal information continued to grow, while pressure for speed, efficiency and traceability increased.

Against this backdrop, it became clear that conventional search solutions no longer met the demands of modern legal work. The impetus behind DeepLegal was the recognition that legal professionals invest substantial time in research, even though most information is already available digitally.

Official Legal Sources at the Core of DeepLegal

Federal legislation is continuously and comprehensively imported from Fedlex, cantonal collections are integrated via Lexfind, and both federal and cantonal court decisions are systematically incorporated. An intelligent search function with cantonal filters enables even more precise research.

Legal professionals formulate their queries in natural language and receive structured answers within seconds, including direct references to the relevant sources. Results can easily be shared within teams or protected in confidential mode, and may also be translated automatically.

Data Security According to Swiss Standards

Data protection and security are central to DeepLegal. The infrastructure is ISO 27001:2022 certified, compliant with GDPR and the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG), with exclusive data processing on Swiss servers.

DeepLegal is a product of DeepCloud AG, a spinoff of Abacus Research AG, and expands the «Abacus Law» software suite. DeepLegal can also be used as a standalone solution.
