Challenge
Digital auditing software in search of a digital signature solution.
Developed by auditing experts, revio provides a comprehensive tool for electronic annual audit documentation. It ensures efficient management of the audit process, from planning to final documentation, and stands out for its high quality and user-friendliness.
As part of its offer, revio includes a specially developed fiduciary module for digital final documentation. It’s part of the revio ecosystem and aims to support fiduciaries in digitising and efficiently managing their final documentation. The final documentation begins where bookkeeping ends, including the creation of a beautifully designed, legally compliant annual financial statement with balance sheet, income statement, appropriation of profits, cash flow statement, and notes.
Finally, the report must be signed. But handwritten signatures add inefficiency and administrative burden. With an increasing number of audit clients requesting a digital report, revio needed a solution that offered a qualified electronic signature (QES) to allow auditors and clients to digitally sign, while promising them improved efficiency.
Solution
A future-proof digital signature solution for more efficient and secure auditing.
Revio is based in St. Gallen, Switzerland – which is also the home of DeepCloud parent company Abacus. Numerous meetings at conferences fostered mutual understanding of the companies’ target groups. According to revio owner Christian Zanettin, this shared vision, more than geographical proximity, made cooperation “a natural choice”.
There are a number of DeepSign features and uses that appealed to revio from the beginning. With revio, the auditor creates the report, integrates the annual financial statement, and then must sign the entire report. With DeepSign, this last step was made simple. DeepSign sends a notification via email letting the auditor know that the report is ready to be signed. Once the auditor signs with their electronic signature, the report is automatically filed again in the client’s revio dossier. This process is not only faster and safer but also more environmentally friendly by eliminating paper.
DeepSign helps on the client side, too. All signatories on the report must use a qualified electronic signature (QES) to meet written form requirements under Swiss (and EU) law. To meet this strictest standard, all parties must first identify themselves using digital identification verification. With DeepSign, this process is made considerably easier, thanks to integrated DeepID technology. With DeepSign, revio clients can independently create a digital identity for free in just a matter of minutes.

“With DeepSign, the price-performance ratio is hard to beat.”

Results
Seamless digital integration with DeepSign.
The new procedure has proven very useful. As a DeepSign Solution partner, revio has been able to increase their efficiency and reduce administrative effort by creating and signing audit reports digitally. “The seamless use of DeepSign has fully met our expectations and is easy to handle”, says Zanettin. “The price-performance ratio is hard to beat.”
Revio is developing version 4, which will include new features, improvements, and potential additional integrations to add value to users. One possibility is the use of DeepBox for data exchange between clients, fiduciaries, and auditors. DeepBox allows for uncomplicated, fast, and secure transmission of data, documents, and receipts over an encrypted connection. Combining DeepBox with revio and DeepSign could enhance digitalisation in the auditing and fiduciary sector, benefiting clients. Regardless of the specifics of revio 4’s final form, the company maintains an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and adaptation to the evolving needs of the industry.
The integration of DeepSign into revio has significantly simplified the digital signature process. This has not only saved time but also has ensured that documents are signed in full compliance with the law. With the support of DeepSign, revio offers a future-proof solution that paves the way for more efficient and secure auditing.
